I have been a member of staff at Glasgow University since 1990, having previously worked at the University of Amsterdam, University College, London, University of Edinburgh, and University of Canterbury, Christchurch.
Research and Teaching Interests
Scottish medicine, 20th century biomedicine, physical diagnosis, lay/practitioner interaction, obstetrics (20th century), paediatrics, nutrition.
Medicine and literature, with reference to Robert Burns and Anthony Trollope.
Ecological and environment thought as it relates to public health.
