Dr Nicola James
Nicola's qualifications include a degree in English Literature and Diploma in Counselling as well as a
Masters Degree and PhD Theology and Literature.
Her initial career was in community libraries and with The Scottish Book Trust and she has been a practising Therapist in public health for twenty five years. She has served as a volunteer University Chaplain.
Research and Teaching Interests
Nicola's current research and teaching interests include Theology and Literature and Efficacy of The Word. Her writing projects include further exploration of her PhD on the contemporary fiction writer Jane Gardam and on the efficacy of the Word as one of the poetic metaphors that speaks to the our condition. Nicola is an independent Student Counsellor and a University Consultant Trainer and Supervisor for the new Listening Ear Service at Edinburgh University Chaplaincy .
