Dr Linda Moxey
Senior Lecturer in Psychology
M.A. Psychology, University of Glasgow; M.Sc. Cognitive Science, University of Edinburgh; PhD. Psychology, University of Glasgow.
After completing my PhD, I was a post doc at the Human Computer Interaction centre, University of Strathclyde for 9 months before becoming a British Academy postdoctoral scholar in the Psychology department at Glasgow in January 1987. I became a lecturer here in 1989, and was promoted to Senior lecturer in 1996.
Research and Teaching Interests
I am interested in how people communicate quantities and extents of things, and this type of communication is particularly important in the communication of risk, where facts to be conveyed are often statistical in nature. For example, the probability that a particular treatment will be successful, or that a particular behaviour will lead to disease.
