We work with colleagues on studies to promote aspects of end of life care in Scotland.
Some of this is focussed in one rural region – Dumfries and Galloway. This work has attracted funding for the inaugural Dame Barbara Kelly Fellowship, awarded by the Crichton Institute.
The funding will allow a full time postgraduate research student to investigate in detail the challenges we face in delivering supportive, palliative and end of life care in Dumfries and Galloway.
Marie Curie Scotland has given us funding for the data analysis on our collaborative study, Imminence of death among hospital inpatients in Scotland and Denmark.
This study group will see our research team working with NHS practitioners in Scotland and academics from the University of Southern Denmark.
