This project arose as part of a University of Glasgow Masters Dissertation titled “Let Her Come In: Adapting the ‘mad’ characters of Hamlet in contemporary playwriting.” The project, supervised by Dr Vicky Price, is a one-act play adaption of Hamlet that seeks to understand the source of Hamlet’s madness. In doing so, the piece engages with adaptation processes, trauma theory, gender studies and contemporary dramaturgical practices.
The play is being performed as part of the 2016 Disability and Shakespeare symposium (organized by Dr Hannah Tweed and Dr Susan Anderson) at the University of Glasgow. It is also part of the University of Glasgow's Shakespeare400 events.
